‘La Casa Azul’, or more commonly called the ‘Museo de Frida Kahlo’ is located in the heart of Mexico City, near Centro Coyoacan. The importance of the place can be easily gauged from the long queues of tourists coming from different parts of the world, that can be seen outside the museum. Originally the home of the famous painter, ‘Frida Kahlo’; the Blue House was converted into a museum in 1958. It houses some of the most brilliant works of the painter. As one moves from one end of the museum to the other, the pictures and the photographs very vividly narrate the life of Frida Kahlo, her famous works like ‘Viva la Vida (1954)’ and ‘Frida y la cesárea (1931)’, her social circle and the level of respect she commanded among some of the best known personalities of her time. One can also see some of the masterpieces of ‘Diego Rivera’, beautifully preserved in the museum though majority of his works can be seen in another museum called, ‘Museo Anahuacalli’.
